About Me

The theme for the series is Containment and Contamination, which has been a concept from my past as well as the impetus for many other investigations. This series explores the imagery of the box, both open, closed and fractured as multiple metaphors for the individual, family, society or system. Although these concepts have crept forward in my mind, I am trying to create intuitively and formally. The comments tab is enabled for visitors to ask questions, and post criticism and/or accolades.

I am very interested in your idea of containment/contamination, in particular when set our current climate of environtmental pollution, the fear of bird flu, threat of biological warfare, and the overabundance of mass-produced and cheaply made products. I don't mean to oversimplify or demean your work - which is lovely by the way - but it makes me think of the Simpsons episode where Homer opens a cardboard box and releases a cloud of toxic fog because a sick Chinese worker coughed into the box as it was being sealed.
A really great painting. I particurlarly enjoy your sensitivity to color combinations comingled with your choice of subject matter. The box seems to reference the vagina with its open and closed lids/lips.
